Raising and training Pointing breeds since 1984, Alan is one of the premier dog trainers in the Midwest. He is a member of Tri-Tronics Influentials Club, handler of multiple Regional and National AKC Hunt Test champions and handler of multiple Regional NSTRA qualifiers. He has trained and placed dogs for clients across most of the United States. Alan will be presenting seminars on how to start a young hunting dog. She serves as a consultant for breeding program management, reproductive evaluations, pregnancy management, neonatal care and infertility disorders. Dr. Joann still maintains a strong interest in all areas of internal medicine. Dr. Joann will be presenting two seminars at the Great Outdoor Expo. While Dr. Fritz enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Medicine, he has special interest in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, advanced dentistry, and anesthesiology/pain management. Dr. Fritz has broad experience in the management of orthopedic injuries including advanced training in orthopedic surgery. He has completed hands-on training in surgery for the repair of canine cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures. This includes both the traditional method of repair as well as the new TightRope® procedure which is a less invasive option for cruciate surgery especially in large breeds. Dr. Fritz will be presenting a seminar at the Great Outdoor Expo on "Performance Injuries and Managing Joint Disease in the Athletic Dog."
Dr Laurie McCauley is a 1992 graduate of Colorado State University. She is the owner of TOPS Veterinary Rehabilitation in Grayslake, IL, a referral specialty hospital. She is a pioneer in the field of rehabilitation and physical therapy, serving the needs of her patients and caring for world class athletes. She works with top show dogs, agility dogs and other performance athletes from around the country. She is certified by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association, as well as a contributing author of reference textbooks within the profession. Her seminars will focus on the care and management of the performance dog and conditioning to avoid injuries.
Kirk Halma, CPT is the owner of K-9 Motivation in Woodstock, Illinois specializing in canine behavior, development and behavior modification using obedience training as a primary focus. He is a contributing author in both print and internet media on all topics pertaining to our relationship with our "best friends" whether they are 4 lb. Malti-Poos, Pit Bulls or Giant Breeds. Kirk is a graduate of the Master Trainer course at the internationally recognized National K-9 School for Dog Trainers with endorsements in Puppy Development, Basic and Advanced Obedience, Behavior Modification, Retrieval, Scent Detection, Tracking, Assistance Dog, Personal Protection, Police K-9, Breed Identification and Utility Work. He is a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, the National K-9 Dog Trainers Association and is registered through the Delta Society as a Pet Partners handling team with his German Shepherd Dog "Chance". Kirk will be presenting two seminars at this year's expo: "Take Charge in a Kind Way" the critical Human element in canine development. "The Nature of Balance" and how this applies to dogs of all ages regardless of breed.
